Information Literacy
Websites &
Expectations
The
MOST important sites for information on Information Literacy for this Academy
are:
The Big6 is an information and technology
literacy model and curriculum, implemented in thousands of schools - K through
higher education. Some people call the Big6 an information problem-solving
strategy because with the Big6, students are able to handle any problem, assignment,
decision or task.[1]
The Information Literacy Standards supported by
the International Society for Technology in Education, ISTE.
The recommended Information and Technology
Literacy standards currently being reviewed by the Minnesota State Legislature.

A MUST SEE for making the connections between the
standards and the Big6.
Please
review these four sites before attending
the workshop on September 30th.
These will be the foundation standards for the ATLAS IV Academy and the
standards that each District Team will be expected to identify in the
curriculum they develop. We will be
using the same format the ISTE framework for this Academy Workshop.
Each
district will also be responsible for developing a district level Information Literacy Plan for their
district. This need not be a fully
developed document, but needs to include a clear connection to the curriculum
content areas where the Information Literacy Standards are taught and an
assessment plan for determining the level of student achievement in
demonstrating these standards. There is
a stipend attached to the completion of this task.
