PURPOSE:  Rhyming is an ongoing process for the kindergarten year.   This set activities will be used to introduce the concept of rhyming at the beginning of kindergarten.

 

 

DESCRIPTION:  These activities will introduce my kindergarten students to rhyming though literature, a partner rhyming activity, and through participation in a home/school connection activity.

ASESSMENT:

The students will verbally be able to give a rhyming word to a prompt during small group discussions and a checklist will be completed for each student on an ongoing basis throughout the school year.

COMMENTS:

 

I have taught different parts of this lesson before.  The students enjoyed bringing in objects from home and sharing them with their friends.  Last year is the first year that we created a big book.  The students loved seeing themselves in the class book.
